So this is where all the locals come- we picked this place because it was open at 6:30 and didn't want to go to IHOP because .... Why? --- anyway -- the coffee here is excellent and hot-- everyone says good mornin' as you walk in -- very going to visit he family feeling -- the food is simple and tasty--- don't come here for a culinary master piece-- come here to get fed and enjoy company with good people.

I had breakfast here, so I have no idea what their regular lunch dinner menu tastes like. We both ordered a number 2. He ordered his with pancakes and I ordered one with the French toast, Hashbrowns and biscuits. Taste wise, it's comparable to IHOP almost to the T. Nothing original in the flavours, but I guess you can't expect too much out of breakfast. Just like Ihop you get a lot for your money. (12.99 pancakes, bacon, hash browns , eggs and 2 biscuits).

I was here a few weeks ago, and I told myself I'd write a review for the amazing service we experienced while in Lake Charles. The coffee was fresh and awesome, server would frequently ask how we were doing, and the breakfast was great! No complaints, totally a family feel to the little place. The people serving you are so sweet and it's definitely a place I'd like to go back to when I'm out in New Orleans again!

I love this place. Personable sincere service! Wait staff is always friendly and greets us with a smile, even when we show up close to closing! Ladies are always helpful with recommending menu selections when I don't know what I want. I am always satisfied!

I had the plate lunch, regular size, which was great! The food was made fresh to order, so it takes a minute to come out, but it was worth the wait. I would definitely come back for lunch.

Eat here often, and the food is great. I just wish the drive-thru had an awning. It is a nightmare picking up your food in the rain.

This place has good food! I got a jalapeno burger and fries. Talk about delicious. The patty was seasoned to perfection. I also got a huge slice of chocolate cake for like 4 bucks. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Friendly staff fast service!

Went here for breakfast. Friendly staff, a little slow on the service but the food was worth the wait. Their homemade spice rub is very good.

We ate here for breakfast 3 or 4 days in a row while visiting family. Good coffee, good food, great service. Wish we lived closer as it would be a regular place for us!

Good selection on the menu. When it arrived it was hot and seasoned. Dinner salad comes with the dinner had to request salad be delivered before main meal. Server was nice and pleasant.

Every time my family and I go to this restaurant we have NEVER had a bad experience. The grilled tilapia special that they offer periodically is absolutely scrumptous. Service is always great and food is always done right!!

We stopped in for lunch today on our way east to Baton Rouge. First of all, the service was excellent. I tried a bowl of their sausage and chicken gumbo which was very good. For our entrees, we had a crab cake sandwich, good, but the crab cake contained too much filler material, and fried oysters which were okay. The oysters were not pan fried, but deep fat fried, which made them less soft and succulent. However, the portion size was good.

Really good home-style food. When you're craving comfort food, here is the place to go. The chicken fried steak is the best, along with the onion rings. The beef tips and rice is really good as well. There is always more on my plate than I can finish.

Stopped in with six friends on the way from Austin to New Orleans. A very down to earth, home cookin' way to eat. As my friends said: "Southern Spice... very nice."

Stopped in here for lunch with co-workers on our way back to Houston. The restaurant feels down home without being cheesy, and our waitress was patient and friendly. The menu has a little bit of everything southern, from beef tips to po-boys to burgers. I had the fried fish plate, with fries, hush puppies and cole slaw. This is a pretty simple meal (and none too healthy), but every part of it was damn good. My co-workers seafood gumbo was just ok, but I think we all enjoyed our food. Could definitely come back here next time we are passing through.

This was where my man and I decided to go for Valentines. I can sum up the experience in one word...awesome. The waitress, Kadie R, was the best waitress I have had in a LONG time! Very polite, very helpful in choices on the menu, very attentive on empty dishes, low drinks, and had eyes in the back of her head when we had a problem. We watched her help a customer near us by bringing him a taste of the tea to see if he liked it before he ordered. Above and beyond...Needless to say she recieved a nice tip from us for making the dinner a pleasant experience. My man is illergic to mushrooms, they were more than happy to change out the mushrooms from the sample entree to something else, which was yummy! The tea I had to drink was fantastic! I make tea at home and I have never been able to make tea that yummy before. I emptied the glass more than once :) . My chicken fried steak could of used a little more salt and pepper in the gravy, the fried green beans (suggested by Kadie) were perfect, just as she said, especially dipped in ranch. My man had the flat iron steak, unfortunately it took 3 times to cook it properly. We learnt through Kadie that there was a new grill cook that evening. Even though it took a little to get it right, it was very yummy as well. (had to sneak a bite :) ) Home made onion rings to die for, the fried pickles were nice and crunchy. Those little pepper things on the sample entree were very very yummy as well. We decided at the end of everything, even though we were extremely stuffed, we wanted to have a little desert. Kadie recommended the red velvet cheese cake. OMG that thing was sinful! We could not eat all of the one slice we got but it was a perfect ending to a perfect dinner. Thank you Kadie and thank you Southern Spice for making our Valentine's dinner memorable! We will be back often!

Good breakfast and good coffee. Eggs were great, biscuits and gravy were good, but the steak was a little undercooked. I would definitely go back again if given the chance.

Great southern, home-style cooking. We usually stop in here for lunch and the plate lunches never disappoint. The burgers are good as well. I'm a fan.
